I am currently the only nationally certified specialist in child language and language disorders in the State of Minnesota. My passion is language and literacy. I have spent several years studying and training hands on to understand the deep and complicated relationship between language, reading, writing, and spelling. I have received training in the Orton Gillingham method, Wilson Reading Instruction, and SPELL-Links. I’m a speech pathologist who specializes in stuttering and other fluency disorders. I received an MA in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Minnesota, and I’ve done post-graduate work in stuttering at the American Institute for Stuttering, in New York City, as well as the Lang Stuttering Institute, at the University of Texas-Austin. I joined ASLS in September of 2000 after both of my children were in school full-time. I have a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance. I am currently the Business Manager for ASLS and I feel this is a wonderful company to work for. I provide support at the Plymouth office and joined ASLS in April of 2016. Being a part of this team has been such a great experience because of the staff’s devotion to helping others. I have enjoyed seeing the kids and families here grow and learn. In my spare time, I like to scrapbook, spend time with families and make lots of memories with my husband and two kids.
I joined ASLS in July of 2019 as a change of careers. I grew up in the metro area and spent 8 years in California before returning to Minnesota in 2011, and it’s wonderful to be back! In my free time, I love spending time with my adult children and my grandkids, as well as watching sports and attending live concerts. I joined ASLS at the St. Paul location in September of 2019 working the front desk. I graduated the College of St Scholastica, majoring in Psychology. I love working with the families and kids that make up our ASLS community. It’s incredible to see the growth and development of all the patients and their families over time. In my free time I enjoy hiking, cooking, and listening to a wide variety of music.
I am a sophomore at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities studying Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and French! Some activities that I am apart of a MNcan Aphasia support group. I volunteer every week, supporting a group of individuals with Aphasia and I am a member of NSSLHA, the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. I also volunteer as a Health Advocate in my apartment, where I provide medical supplies to my residents. My goal in my future is to become a Speech-Language Pathologist, working with various different kinds of patients! Some things I like to do for fun is knit, travel, and watch Netflix. Overall, I am very excited to be apart of the Associated Speech team!
I joined ASLS Shoreview location in June of 2018 and work the front desk on Saturday’s. I am a student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities majoring in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. After undergrad, I plan to continue on into graduate school to obtain a M.A in Speech-Language Pathology. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy cooking, being outside and spending time with friends.
I’ve grown up working in the St. Paul location where I work part-time as an office assistant. I’m currently working towards my masters in Teaching English as a Second Language at Hamline University. In my free time, I love traveling, crafting, and spending time with my family and friends.
Janet acted as co-founder and co-owner of Associated Speech and Language Specialists from May of 1994 through April of 2012. The vast knowledge and experience she shared helped to shape the success of colleagues’ careers and positively impact those families she worked with. Janet is now thoroughly enjoying retirement as she travels and spends time with her adorable brood of grandchildren.
