I am a co-owner of ASLS and have been here from the beginning (June 1994!). I received both my B.A. and M.A. degrees from Mankato State University. My previous experience has included hospital, home health and school settings. I have had the opportunity to speak about speech and language development to a number of groups including preschool directors and teachers, childcare workers and parents. I am currently the only nationally certified specialist in child language and language disorders in the State of Minnesota. My passion is language and literacy. I have spent several years studying and training hands on to understand the deep and complicated relationship between language, reading, writing, and spelling. I have received training in the Orton Gillingham method, Wilson Reading Instruction, and SPELL-Links. My goal is to increase the language and literacy skills, confidence, and successes for children suspected of having dyslexia or dysgraphia, have been diagnosed with either or simply need additional support in these areas. taracas@gmail.com

I’m a speech pathologist who specializes in stuttering and other fluency disorders. I received an MA in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Minnesota, and I’ve done post-graduate work in stuttering at the American Institute for Stuttering, in New York City, as well as the Lang Stuttering Institute, at the University of Texas-Austin. In addition to seeing clients at ASLS, I work as the official Fluency Liaison for Minneapolis Public Schools, where I develop best practices in stuttering for teachers, principals, and speech therapists. gregory@mplsstutter.com

I joined ASLS in September of 2000 after both of my children were in school full-time. I have a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance. I am currently the Business Manager for ASLS and I feel this is a wonderful company to work for. Not only is my work rewarding, but it has been great developing the relationships we have with so many of our families. I am a sophomore at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities studying Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and French! Some activities that I am apart of a MNcan Aphasia support group. I volunteer every week, supporting a group of individuals with Aphasia and I am a member of NSSLHA, the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. I also volunteer as a Health Advocate in my apartment, where I provide medical supplies to my residents. My goal in my future is to become a Speech-Language Pathologist, working with various different kinds of patients! Some things I like to do for fun is knit, travel, and watch Netflix. Overall, I am very excited to be apart of the Associated Speech team!

The vast knowledge and experience she shared helped to shape the success of colleagues’ careers and positively impact those families she worked with. Janet is now thoroughly enjoying retirement as she travels and spends time with her adorable brood of grandchildren.
